FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CURLING: 2012 Sun Life Financial Players' Championship finale Epping shocks Howard - again - to win men's title Final Capital One Grand Slam event concludes curling season PHOTOS (Credit: Anil Mungal, Capital One) SUMMERSIDE, PEI -- John Epping of Toronto scored the winning point on his last shot to defeat Glenn Howard of Coldwater, Ont. in the men's final of the 2012 Sun Life Financial Players' Championship at Credit Union Place. Epping's squad scored three in the second end for a 3-1 lead, and looked good for a critical deuce in the sixth end until Epping's last stone caught a piece of debris. Epping scored only one for a 6-4 lead. "They (Howard) are so good, they come at your all the time," said Epping. "He left me a little opening, the guard kind of acted of as a guide, and I was lucky enough to make it."
